About Tempura Batter Mix
Let’s Enjoy Genuine TEMPURA!
History of Tempura
Tempura was originally introduced to Japan in the mid-16th century by early Portuguese missionaries and traders. It is said that the word Tempura comes from the word “temperar”, Portuguese for “to stiffen with adding oil”, or the word “tempero”, Portuguese for “seasoning”.
In the mid-18th century, Tempura we know now -fried seafood or vegetables-, became popular, and its popularity has long been established in Japan. Since its introduction by the Portuguese, Tempura has been changing its style and has been loved by the people of Japan throughout the centuries.
Nowadays, Tempura is becoming as well known as Sushi at being a part of typical Japanese cuisine all over the world. And new menu items like Tempura Roll or Tempura Fried Roll, were developed and are loved in the USA and throughout the world.
